Pick of the Week: Hitting the "Target" This Time

Last week, one of my favorite new shows from last season finally returned to the lineup. But instead of picking it, I went with a terribly lame episode of “How I Met Your Mother.”

In my defense, I had no idea how lame it was going to be.

So I’m making it up to everyone by making the right pick this week…

My Pick of the Week is “Human Target.”

Also in my defense, this week’s episode of “Target” is much stronger than last week’s. In the premiere, we met Ilsa Pucci (Indira Varma), who decided she wanted to finance Chance (Mark Valley) and Winston’s (Chi McBride) protection business after they saved her life.

But this week, Ilsa starts to realize what she’s gotten herself into as Chance sets out to protect the wife of a man he murdered during his assassin days. Throughout the episode, Ilsa juggles her desire to know just what she’s financing and not wanting to know how Chance and Winston get things done.

It’s the most intense episode of “Target” yet, and the always awesome Valley does a great job showing Chance’s regret over the things he’s done in his past.

But no worries, there’s also the show’s usual lightheartedness as well, courtesy of Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley) who has gained a protégé in Ames (Janet Montgomery). Since Guerrero likes to work alone, he’s not really thrilled about having her tag along, but it provides some funny moments for us.

If you’ve never seen “Target” before, now’s a great time to jump in…

“Human Target” airs Wednesday, November 24th at 8 p.m. on FOX…
