ABC does the right thing...

Today ABC named Charles Gibson as its new permanent anchor for its evening newscast, “World News Tonight.”

It’s about time.

ABC should never have gone with the two anchor format in the first place and Charlie Gibson was the only person who could come anywhere close to filling Peter Jennings’ shoes. Obviously, this hurts “Good Morning America,” which was hoping to close in on “Today” after Katie Couric’s exit, but it’s the right thing to do.

I just hate that it took Bob Woodruff’s tragic accident for them to see the error of their ways.
